Our 1 year anniversary celebration (1)~
priss | May 28, 2010I love ma life!
Beau took me to Seattle for a mini getaway to celebrate our 1st anniversary. It was such a pleasant trip. Shopped at Nordstrom Rack and scored some wicked items including a very fitted Michael Kors leather jacket! WeeeeEeEee!!! But again, shopping here just can’t even compare to shopping in Japan! Imagine when you walk into a store and you wish you can bring EVERY SINGLE item home. No I’m not kidding. Every single item! Ah I miss Japan~
Got side tracked! Hahha~ =) There’s one thing we did on this trip that I’d love to share. Knowing me, you wouldn’t be surprised to hear that we joined a food tour! As I was planning the trip and asking Mr. Google “What to do in Seattle”, TripAdvisor listed that the Savor Seattle Food Tour as one of the top 3 things you must do in Seattle. What’s so special about it is that it’s a 3-hr walking tour visiting various restaurants and shops and EAT and DRINK (wine and beer pairing). The moment I saw that I was sold. Ha! Too big of a foodie eh~ =)
So what did we have?
Seared duck cake paired with sangria at Andaluca. & You can get their sangria recipe on their website.
The most awesomeous pizza I’ve ever had –> roasted mushrooms, truffle cheese pizza + buffalo mozzarella, san marzano tomato pizza @ Serious Pie by the infamous chef Tom Douglas. Wow we were very impressed. The restaurant was still packed at 3pm that the 8 pairs of us had to do the tasting outside. This is definitely my favorite item on the tour!
Truffle-oil infused potato & leek soup, + tomato xxx @ La Buona Tavola. We also tried their 10-year & 12-year aged balsamic vinegar. What a cute little family-owned shop! Once we finish our truffle oil we’ll go stock up!
Some interesting pasta they’ve got there with the name “Mother-in-law Tongue Pasta”. =p
Seafood and saffron risotto @ il Bistro with local wine paring
Then on our way to Pike Brewing Company for beer tasting, we walked pass the famous GUM WALL. Eww! =p
Beer tasting paired with artisan cheeses @ the Pike Brewing Company. One of them is called Naughty Nellie.
The cute classic BMW [forgot the model] car that the owner used to cruise around in Seattle downtown.
Geez, all the memories in Rockwell came back as I was touring in the brewery, and I think I spotted a tiny Allen-Bradley PanelView by the bottling line. I miss the people in Rockwell. THE good people.. of course. ^_~
The owner’s doggie Derby made it to the hall of frame on the wall.
I know how to make ma beau happy! =D
Gourmet miniburger paired with some kinda interesting carbonated water @ Art in the Four Seasons. Apparently, Chef Kerry Sear patented the word “miniburger” so any restaurants/chefs wanting to use the name will need to pay him. I’m guessing he must be the original inventor then! Just like Tojo’s California Roll. Smart!
One day, ma fireplace’s gonna look like THIS!
Homemade Italian strawberry and vanilla gelato and coffee @ Gilatiamo.
What do I think?
We definitely enjoyed the tour and are glad that we had experienced it, though I don’t think I’d do it again. Reasons are simple. Being in Vancouver, I’m quite spoiled with the quality and variety of food choices. Being a foodie, the stuff we had on the tour didn’t WOW me, except for the pizza. MmmMMMmmmMMMMMmmm~ Plus it’s quite pricey @ $69 person plus taxes and tip for the tour guide. There are other tours that they offer. The ladies on the tour told me they went to the Chocolate tour the day before and had a blast. They ended up at the Space Needle and the fees were all included. That tour is a little bit cheaper @ $49/person. But then again, it’s JUST chocolates! =p
However, I’d definitely recommend people to try the tours for the fun experience.
All right, gonna pass out now. More on the trip later~
To be continued….

Heard of this very inspiring pianist in Japan – Nobuyuki Tsujii 辻井伸行. He’s blind yet plays and composes amazing music. So for people that whines about life, after watching he plays, what else would you think would be impossible? I’m floored…
